i have a website ideaHow would you go about selling a website idea to a web developer or entrepreneur?

I've got an idea for a website that I think is practical and will work out. Problem is that I don't know the first thing about starting a website or even starting a business. Also, I don't have the time considering I have a career and a family. So I'm just wondering if there are ways to sell your ideas to web designers or entrepreneurs.
Before even pitching any viable idea to a web developer or entrepreneur you should prepare a confidentiality log in which anyone who is presented with your concept agrees not disclose the idea to third parties and also acknowledges the fact that on a particular day, time, month and year that all concepts presented by you to thei have a website ideam are truly your own invention, etc. That way, you can safeguard yourself from any possible IP thievery down the road by web developers or entrepreneurs.

Good luck!
One of my favorite quotes is "Being an entrepreneur requires only two things: an idea and action"... its one of my favorites because its mine. :) But in all seriousness, you need to put action behind an idea to make it worth anything.

I'm sorry to disappoint, but ideas are a dime-a-dozen. I think you'll have a hard time finding someone willing to buy a "concept". Its nearly impossible to patent a website - unless it used some very advanced and specific software - so the momi have a website ideaent you talk about it, there is no protection. Even if you have confidentiality documents signed - its very likely an unprotectable idea.

Your best bet is to get in touch with a developer - hopefully a friend of a friend or something, and see if he'll do the work and become a partner.

At the least, you can start off by buying up some of the domain names associated with your idea. Just hit godaddy for them.

I speak from experience. If you want some more advice on starting a business I have an ebook thats an easy read called "Cut the Crap & Start Your Business". Its available at the link below:
