Every day there is a knock on the door or I am stopped in the street and harassed over some deity that I do not believe in and I am sorry to say it is mainly Christians that do this they talk about tolerance and do not see how intolerant of others they are being they talk about loving and compassion of others yet block narrow paths used by the disabled near the hospital while they harass others forcing them onto the busy road they say do not judge others yet without a moment’s hesitation seem free to judge others fitting for harassment preachers of other religions are moved on if attempting such displays why not Christians? Why can’t they be happy with people living happy lives how they wish after all it was what their lord and saviour promotes yet they seem so happy to hypocritically judge others in his name and condemn those who do not think like them worthy of a eternity of damnation. I am sorry if you are not one of these people, but why do you continue with this B.S of forcing others to fear what they fear?!
If you can answer without resorting to ad hominem retorts and quotes of passages of the bible or other thereof or criticizing spelling and grammar I am happy
Its true. I like monopoly but i dont feel a need to knock on peoples doors handing out copies of the rule book, asking them to call me if anything peeks their interest like income tax or the chance of winning a beauty contest. Its rediculus!
They don't respect other's beliefs.
The short answer is: people who don't belong to your religion don't drop money in your collection plate.
TROLL ALERT !!!
The more members a club has, the more power, wealth and influence it has.
They think they're right and wonder how anyone could think different. If you don't think like them and see the world like they do, you're wrong and they feel a moral obligation to correct you..
I truly bquotes on compassion for otherselieve that some religious people feel that "spreading the word" means that's ALL they should do.
I personally believe that if I go out and help another human being be a better human being or help them to live life more fully, THAT is what God intended for me to do.
allot of them don't do it the rite way
you cannot force a person, you can tell them about God and Jesus etc.. tell them about the hope for tomorrow and God loves us etc..
but don't force people, or tell them that they will go to hell, who the heck wants to hear that
I am a Christian and had those experiences when I am younger, it's actually funny when people like that approach me now.. they don't know that I am already saved and baptized
Religion is a form of slavery.
I didnt read your rant. They get tiresome.
Why are you in a religion room to begin with? To whine?
They believe that your life is missing something if you don't share their beliefs. Its a form of brain washing. Nobody is perfect, so they don't realize they are doing more harm than good.
I think what you are feeling is conviction and that is what is upsetting you.
It's another case of taking scripture literally...
...then to the Nth power...and hypocrisy.
But, they are doing it out of Love.
Don't open the door every time someone knocks. I question the veracity of your claims. I think you are trying to stifle other people's free speech and freedom of religion because you're a grump. Ad hominem or not, it's my opinion.
They don't want you to burn in hell for eternity.
I wish they'd stop though :/
In my experience, part of being a Christian does leave you feeling compelled to try and share your experience with others. The best thing I can liken it to is, say you've come across this amazing band on youtube or myspace and you know your friends will have never heard of them beforequotes on compassion for others, the first thing you want to do is burn copies of their tunes and get your mates to listen to them. You have something exciting and important in your life, and you want others to be able to understand what it feels like and share those good times. I personally don't talk about my faith unless i'm asked about it, or if conversation comes up with friends, but I suspect a lot of these kind of people genuinely feel they are doing good and are trying to be useful/helpful, and would hate the idea of being a pest.
Then there is also, as other people have mentioned, the fact that full churches mean lively churches (as well as more donations on the collection plate to take a more cynical perspective). And also, i think some are trying to basically score heaven points. Like - if i convert a few people then God will definitely me in. This in my opinion, is a very warped take on a Christian perspective.
Seriously tho? Does this really happen every day?? I'm gonna take a wild punt and guess you're from the USA, probably the South? The idea that God is something/someone to be scared of, and the fear of some kind of eternal damnation, seem to be popular over there. I have no idea why. Again, in my opinion this is a very warped stance from what we know about what Jesus preached. If it's happening every day I would consider moving!
But seriously, why not try and convey your thoughts that you've put here to these people, calmly(!), next time it happens. You might find they are more understanding and apologetic than you think, and will hopefully take your views onboard and be mindful of them in future.
RANT !
Not all , but some. Some religions live peacefully and let others live peacefully.
